How to Remove a User Profile on a Chromebook

This article describes how to remove a user profile from a Chromebook. Additionally, it describes what steps to take if you are unable to click on the remove user link. 

1. Power on the Chromebook, but do not sign in. If already signed in, select sign out to get back to the sign-in screen.

2. To remove a user, select the arrow to the right of the username you intend to remove.



3. Next select the Remove account button which expands the window with the following message:

All files and local data

associated with this user

will be permanently deleted

once this user is removed.

username@ipsd.org can still sign in later

Remove account

4. To complete the removal, select Remove Account

5. The Chromebook is now ready for the next user sign in.  

Additional Information

Occasionally, the computer will NOT allow you to click on the remove user link with either the mouse or the touch screen. If this occurs complete the steps below.

           Option A: Use the Tab + Enter keys on the keyboard.
           Tab allows you to jump around. Then enter to select the highlighted option.

           Option B: Adjust the screen resolution.
           Hold down the Ctrl+Shift keys, then click on the +/- keys to increase/decrease the screen display size.
           This should then allow you to use the mouse or touch screen once you find correct size.
