How to upgrade to Microsoft Office 365

This article describes how to upgrade Microsoft Office on your district computer. For instructions on accessing and using Microsoft Office 365 Education for home use please visit https://support.ipsd.org/support/home and navigate to the Resources and Downloads section at the bottom of the webpage. 


Software Center:

Technology Services utilizes the “Software Center” for Application deployments,Windows Updates and Operating System updates on District computers. Staff can view available applications, updates and operating system upgrades by visiting the Software Center application on their Windows PC.

As part of the Districts move to the Office 365 cloud, there is a new version of Office available that is required to be installed. This is the same version that is available for staff for install on their home computers (see support center for details).

Office 365 Upgrade:

The Office 365 Upgrade will remove the existing Microsoft Office installation and install the latest release of Office 365 then restart the computer after the upgrade.

The upgrade process takes approximately 15 minutes. The installation will require a computer restart and will display a 2-minute warning before the restart is initiated.

 

When you launch Office 365 for the first time you may or may not be prompted for a login. Please enter your district email credentials if prompted (first_last@ipsd.org).

 

To start the Office 365 Upgrade you will need to open Software Center.

1. To open Software Center click the Start Button and begin typing Software Center. Then click and open Software Center from the search results.

 



2. Click the Applications tab and then click Office upgrade to o365 – install.

 



3. Click the Install button.



 

4. The Office upgrade to o365 – install installation will now begin.

 


The upgrade process takes approximately 15 minutes. The installation will require a computer restart and will display a 2-minute warning before the restart is initiated.  If you have any issues or the process does not complete, please enter a Support Request at https://sso.ipsd.org
