APPLIES TO
Chrome and Google Classroom
ISSUE
Unable to play a video that the teacher has posted in Google Classroom.
CAUSES
This can occur when the YouTube video is shared via Google Classroom. This includes Screencastify videos as they use the same player as YouTube videos.
RESOLUTION
- Remove the user profile on the Chromebook and sign back in again to access the video. (How to Remove a User Profile on a Chromebook)
- If no one in the class can access the video, please contact your teacher to approve the YouTube video. (Applicable only to students in grades 6-12.)
- Check that cookies are not disabled in Chrome. You will see the cookie icon in the Chrome address back if the setting is disabled. (Websites are Not Working in Chrome)
NOTE FOR STAFF
- YouTube is blocked for elementary students. If using Screencastify within Google Classroom, it uses the same player as YouTube and therefore will not work. Videos can be shared with parents or families from Google Drive or must be converted using WeVideo to a format that will play on the student's Chromebooks.
