Using the Jabra Microphone/Speaker with your Setup:
A Jabra Microphone/Speaker is setup in each room. Because there are wired speakers in district classrooms it is recommend to use the Jabra as a microphone and using the speakers in the wall for audio output.
Option #1: Plug USB Directly into your Computer
Plug the device into your laptop and go. This will now be your microphone.
Use the Jabra controls to edit (mute, volume up, volume down).
Option #2: Setting Up Bluetooth
Important: First charge should be for 3 hours. This will ensure the battery has a long life. If fully charged, the device should last for 15 hours.
The device will only allow one computer/phone to be connected at a time. After class a teacher will need to remove the device from the laptop. Before class a teacher will need to connect.
How to Use a 3-Display Setup
Let's get started by defining your 3 displays.
Display 1 - Your Laptop display
Display 2 - Your Monitor display
Display 3 - Your Overhead Projector display (even if it is turned off)
We understand that everyone has a different way of teaching and you may have a different idea on how you want to setup your technology. There is not a "one-size fits all" way to setup your technology while hybrid teaching. We want you to do what is best for your style of teaching. This is one setup that we have tested and confirmed without any additional devices while Zooming and Rooming.
Note: This may not apply to all since some staff members may have desktops in your teaching areas.
When you connect your laptop to a dock, you may encounter duplicating displays. If it works for you, great! You can skip this how-to. If you want a 3-display setup as outlined above, follow this Step-by-Step below.
First let's start off by docking your laptop to your dock.
Docking HS Laptops:
Plug the dock connection cable to either of the two lightning bolt ports on the right side of your laptop. #4 in the image below.
Docking MS & ES Laptops:
Align your laptop to the dock. Dock the laptop by sliding the dock plug towards the laptop. Press the power button to turn on the laptop.
After you dock your device:
- Log in to your laptop using your district credentials.
- Do not log in to VPN (Globalprotect) while in a district building.
Power on your overhead projector so that you can see the 3rd display. You will need the projector powered on when setting up displays.
- Note: Please notify us by creating a support ticket if your remote is not working, check your batteries prior to doing so. Even though the remote has not been used the batteries may still have drained.
- Now that all items are on we will continue.
- Right click on the desktop and click "Display settings".
- This setting may show differently on your screen. The numbers 1-3 represent a logical view of each physical display as seen by the laptop.
- Press the Identify button to locate their physical location. You will see a number corresponding to the numbers in the display settings at the bottom right of each monitor .
- Simply click and drag the displays to re-order them to match their logical location to their physical location.
- Once you make your changes click Apply to make the changes.
Two of my monitors are combined. What can I do?
If you want to combine two of the three displays to room and zoom simply select "Duplicate desktop on # and # " from the multiple displays drop down below, instead of " Extend desktop on # and # ".
In the event the displays are combined as seen in the photo above when two of the three displays are being duplicated, to extend them you will need to do the following:
- Select the combined displays that you wish to extend they will turn blue when selected, in this example “2|3” should be selected.
- After your selection is made, scroll down to “Multiple displays”
- Click on the drop-down box.
- Select “Extend Desktop on 2 and 3” to allow those devices to extend (separate) and you can then organize them as you wish to best work for you.
How to Change the Main Display
- Select and highlight the display you want set as your main display.
- Scroll down to multiple displays.
- Under the drop-down select the check box that says “Make this my main display”.
- Click Apply
- Close the display settings.
Please note you may need to change the resolution of data projector/smartboard Screen to 1024x768 for it to fit correctly (this may vary by model of projector)
Calibrating a Smartboard with a 3 display setup
- Initiate the calibration screen by pressing the calibration buttons on the smartboard.
- Press spacebar on your keyboard until the calibration and orientation screen is displayed on your smartboard projection screen.
- Touch the crosses to calibrate the screen.
- And you are done.
Helpful Keyboard Shortcuts
Shortcuts for manipulating the active window:
- Win+Left arrow: Snap to the left half of the screen
- Win+Right arrow: Snap to the right half of the screen
- Win+Up arrow: Maximize the window
- Win+Down arrow: Minimize/Restore if it's maximized
If you have more than one monitor:
- Win+Shift+Left arrow: Move window to the monitor on the left
- Win+Shift+Right arrow: Move window to the monitor on the right
